Criterion 3: Demonstrates leadership that enhances student learning, success and development
Innovative leadership and innovation in teaching and learning are key factors to move forward in the fast changing landscape in higher education. I am not merely Head of Department and Head of Programme of the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) to ensure that everything runs smoothly academically in a managerial sense. No, I have to be a curriculum leader that experiment with new technologies and different teaching strategies not only to enable me to share these experiences with my colleagues, but also to show my students through active modelling and usage of innovations how one could implement and use technology and teaching strategies practically. It is through sharing one's teaching experiences and by publishing innovative ideas in academic journals that one assist with the nurturing of teaching and learning. Sharing is vital, as non-sharing lead to the death of innovative practices.
